Description
The theme Borders inaugurates Umbigo’s 2026 editorial plan. Co-curated with Luis Prados Covarrubias and Claudio Hontana Muñoz from the Cultural Section of the Spanish Embassy in Portugal, issue #95 explores the abstract idea of borders. It examines porosities, contaminations, good neighbour practices, and transgressions that are historically and culturally embedded in transition and administrative zones.
This issue features Rigo 23 and Mirna Bamieh (cover and back cover authors); Marta Sesé Fuentes (exhibition/curatorial project); Pedro G. Romero, Germán Labrador Méndez, Álvaro Domingues, Brotéria, LatimLove (written essays); Nuno Nunes-Ferreira, Daniela Ortiz, Uriel Orlow , Marta Castelo, and Miguel Rubio Tapia (visual essays); interview with the artist Asunción Molinos Gordo; Gabriel Garcia and Marco Pires (Conversation Piece – PLMJ Foundation); Juliana Campos (FLAD Interchanges project); Manuel Botelho (Carmona e Costa Foundation Drawing Project); Niño de Elche (Unfolding BoCA), Anne Imhof (Unfolding Serralves); and the curatorial project by Master’s students in Curatorial Studies at the College of Arts of the University of Coimbra (UmbigoLAB).
