TRANSPARENCY
For Issue 28, TRANSPARENCY, we explore the shifting relationship between what is revealed and what remains concealed, questioning ideas of authenticity, identity, vulnerability, and self-expression in an increasingly exposed world.
“I don’t think you can be one hundred percent transparent. You can’t because we’re human, full of contradictions. And because the right to opacity exists. Keeping things to yourself doesn’t make you a liar. There are parts of you that are yours alone. Transparency is a tool to be used when and where appropriate. So I only aspire to be transparent enough to feel free, and opaque enough to feel protected.” – Adriano Batista, Editor in Chief.
Spanning more than 400 pages, TRANSPARENCY brings together creatives who challenge conventional notions of openness and perception. Featuring Hugo Arbués, Ivan Ugrin, and William Franklyn-Miller alongside conversations with Christian Stemmler, Duc Siegenthaler, Ella Skinner, Nobutaka Kobayashi, Peter Copping, Sen Kawahara, and Yuki Itakura, offering insights into creativity, craftsmanship, and the evolving cultural landscape.
Building visual narratives, contributing photographers include Aitor Sola, Angie Couple, Fabien Dumas, Finn Christian Peper, Gabriel Vorbon, Ghalia Kriaa, Max VM, Michiel Meewis, Rui Palma, Shengzhe, and Stefano Giuliano, who reflect the many dimensions of transparency, inviting readers to look beyond appearances and consider the deeper stories that shape how we see or how we are seen. And as stated in the Editor’s Letter, “Now go ahead, read the magazine, and if something doesn’t sit right with you, tell me. Because transparency without conversation is just posturing.”
